Asphalting is a complex process involving various mixtures. For the construction or renovation of a road section, the contractor uses different mixtures for each layer of asphalt. The asphalt road construction technologist monitors the paving process from selection to application. They manage and evaluate the research results and advise on the use of raw materials and the composition of mixtures. They also supervise the laboratory technicians who monitor the quality of the asphalt and the operators in the asphalt plants.

You'll learn the chemical properties of road construction materials required for the asphalt process. You'll also cover the safety and environmental requirements relevant to the laboratory. You'll also learn how to statistically process, interpret, and evaluate the data collected.

You'll learn how to assess a road surface and the criteria a section of road must meet. You'll also learn how to recognize damage and formulate recommendations for improvement. You'll also learn to advise on bituminous mixtures through technical reports. Furthermore, you'll learn how to apply special pavement constructions.
All modules conclude with a theoretical and practical exam. Once you pass all exams, you will receive your diploma.
