Practical exam Crane Operator Stage 3 Offshore / Floating

You can apply for this practical exam if you hold a Crane Operator certificate stage 2 for Offshore (NOGEPA), Floating, or Deck Crane. You must also have completed at least 40 operating hours with the crane/installation, which have been recorded by the HMI. You must also have successfully completed the assignments in the assignment book. You can then apply for this practical exam, in consultation with your employer, as the exam will take place at your own offshore location. The offshore location (on a ship or platform) determines the certificate you receive upon completion.

What does this exam cover?

  • You demonstrate in practice that you possess all practical skills, including loading and unloading a supply boat.

What do you get afterwards?

If this assessment is positive, you will receive the Ccertificate of Expertise & Registration Offshore Crane Operator (Stage 3) or Floating. This certificate is valid for four years. 

Additional information

  • As a crane operator, you must meet the following requirements before you can apply for this exam:
    • you are in possession of a valid Crane Operator certificate stage 2
    • you have worked at least 40 hours with the crane, under the supervision of a certified crane operator
    • these operating hours are recorded by HMI
    • you have completed the assignments in the practical assignment book and passed with a satisfactory grade
  • This exam is administered at your own offshore location. The location (ship or platform) determines which certificate you receive.
