Last Tuesday, a camera crew from RTL Nieuws visited SOMA Bedrijfsopleidingen in Harderwijk. For a news item about heat output The editorial team was looking for a location that could effectively portray the daily practices of the construction and infrastructure sector. They found it on our premises.
During the filming, Gijs Lokhorst of CNV was interviewed about the impact of heat on employees in the construction sector. For the filming, a realistic work environment was needed in which working with heavy equipment and the realities of construction were visible.
Fortunately, we didn't have to look far for that at SOMA. There is always activity at our training center: from hoisting and lifting operations to earthmoving and asphalt work. As a result, we were able to quickly accommodate the camera crew and contribute to a topical subject that affects many professionals in the sector.
During the broadcast, various parts of the SOMA site were visible. For example, our formed GROVE mobile crane the setting of the interview and at the end of the segment activities on the asphalt track of SOMA College filmed.
The topic of heat in the workplace is closely related to the practices of the construction and infrastructure sector. It is precisely during hot days that the importance of working safely and responsibly becomes clear. Therefore, within our education programs and training courses, we pay continuous attention to safe working practices, working conditions, and craftsmanship in practice.
We look back on a successful collaboration and are pleased that SOMA was able to contribute to a current societal issue within the sector in this way.
