Review of the Machinist Training Days 2026

During two cold but dry winter days on January 29th and 30th, more than 160 drivers once again participated in the now traditional Machinist Training Days (MSD) at a snow-covered Construction and Infrastructure Park in Harderwijk.

Together with Trade union HZC (The Black Corps) and we organize the Groundwork department Bouwend Nederland has already organized this "refresher day" 33 times for machine operators, work planners, civil engineering professionals, etc. During six (interactive) workshops, participants learned about the latest developments in their field and in the social sphere.

The following topics were discussed:

  • Monique van Meerendonk (HZC) discussed the latest developments regarding the new pension system with the participants.
  • Construction company Heijmans introduced attendees to a new safety innovation: a collision reduction system.
  • The safe charging of electrical machines was the topic that Gerard van der Veer (practitioner at SOMA) discussed during these days.
  • Lex de Jong of RodRadar introduced the participants to the possibility of scanning the bottom using a radar box with sensors.
  • What will the MSD look like in 2033?: that was the question that Niek Verkade (ValQ) and Piet Oppers (GMB) put to the group.
  • Floris Nolles (Van der Spek) showed the participants an 'intelligent' excavator with the necessary smart functions.

Appreciation

The participants again found these days educational and well-organized, as evidenced by the score of a 8,7 as a grade for the day as a whole. Of course, the fact that the MSD is seen as a "social event" also played an important role.

At the entrance to the Machinists Training Days, a beautiful electric machine from SOMA Bedrijfsopleidingen was on display.

It was two cold but dry days during this year's annual Machinist Training Days. The snow was sometimes challenging, but certainly made for some beautiful pictures.
