Effective July 1, 2019, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment will replace the personal certification system with a personal registration system. The current TCVT certificates will automatically be converted into TCVT registrations. Effective April 1, 2019, the records of continuing education and practical experience will be kept digitally. From that point on, the TCVT registration will fall under the supervision of the Ministry, which has delegated this authority to TCVT-RA (TCVT's sister organization).
End of certification of machine operators
The introduction of registration marks the end of the certification of train drivers. Registration is essentially similar to certification and also involves a TCVT exam and assessment by a registered institution. The only difference is that the CBI will no longer issue the official document on behalf of the Minister, but TCVT RA will issue it on behalf of the Minister.

This only applies to drivers with a legally required W4 certificate. W1-02 and/or W4-08 and/or W5-02 certificates are excluded. They will, however, receive a digital pass. Additional information for KROL drivers (W5-02) is available on our website: www.tcvt.nl
It is possible that SZW will not be able to implement the measure by 1 July 2019, in which case this date will be postponed.
