This course is a shortened basic training course for employees who hold a TCVT certificate for Mobile Crane or Tower Crane, or another offshore certificate. This is the entry point to becoming a fully certified Offshore Crane Operator.
A crane operator moves loads on offshore installations to and from supply boats. From great heights, they must be able to communicate clearly with their colleagues. The crane operator is knowledgeable about safety aspects of lifting equipment and load attachment. They are also responsible for the daily maintenance of the offshore installation.
As a crane operator, you bear a great deal of responsibility. When moving loads on offshore installations and to supply vessels, good communication is essential.
A deck crane operator moves loads on and off a ship. The operator must work safely, responsibly, and efficiently and must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues. The deck crane operator is knowledgeable about lifting plans, safety aspects for lifting equipment, and the attachment of loads.
If you have completed the basic Crane Operator (offshore) course, hold a Stage 2 certificate, and have completed and logged at least 40 operating hours with the crane/system, as well as successfully completed the tasks in the task book, you can apply for this practical exam. This will take place at your own location.
The goal is to provide participants who need to secure and supervise specific loads on construction projects at petrochemical and mining installations with sufficient knowledge and skills to work responsibly and safely, using hoists and other specific lifting equipment. This includes raising awareness of the risks associated with any type of securing and moving loads as a rigger on an offshore mining installation.
Do you work on an offshore mining installation and are you responsible for lifting and moving loads? During this course, you'll learn how to do this safely and according to the correct procedures, focusing on lifting plans, risk awareness, and specific lifting equipment. Upon completion, you'll receive a certificate valid for four years.
