Training for drivers involved in roadside mitigation. After this training, the trainee will have sufficient basic knowledge and skills to handle the vehicle responsibly and perform their duties safely and efficiently.

In addition, in order to maintain their professional competence, professional drivers must, according to the European Directive on Professional Competence 2003/59, complete 35 hours of further training within a five-year period.

The course is suitable for all professional drivers with driving licence (E for) C and D to whom the Professional Competence Directive applies.

What will you learn during the course?

The course is a combination of theory and practice.

Practice:

  • Mounting and dismounting spreader and snow plough
  • Vehicle inspection and maintenance
  • Loading and unloading of de-icing agents
  • Spreading in practice, including driving a spreading route
  • Practical assessment

NB: During practical training on public roads, various routes are driven as needed and specific road situations and traffic conditions are practiced. The course and practical assessment comply with the CROW standard.

Theory: 

  • Winter service awareness, role and responsibilities of the driver
  • Occupational Health and Safety legislation, rights and obligations, legal liability
  • Methods and materials
  • Working with snowplows
  • Working with snow brushes
  • The anti-slip plan
  • Spreading materials, spreading routes and storage, environmental impacts
  • Priorities and road safety
  • Maintenance of equipment before, during and after deployment
  • Maintenance of equipment before, during and after the spreading season

Result: 

  • Knowledge of the importance and usefulness of the road surface control plan
  • Damage and accident prevention
  • Increased customer satisfaction

Type
Half-day classroom teaching with a maximum of 16 students, half-day practical training with a maximum of 8 students per teacher per vehicle.

What do you get afterwards?

The course concludes with a practical exam. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate and safety pass. Continuing education value: 7 hours of theory.

Location

In-company or at a CCV approved training location.

1 day In possession of a driving license (E with) C and D.
