New crane Grove GMK3060-1 on our training site in Harderwijk

Sep 12, 2022

We have recently received a Grove GMK3060-1 which will form the center point for our mobile crane courses. We will now be able to train students in safely operating the very latest mobile crane technology.

Replacing an older machine, this GMK3060-1 was built in 2020 and offers many advantages that will be appreciated by instructors and students alike, according to Erik Baas, Manitowoc’s sales manager mobile cranes in the Netherlands:

“SOMA replaced its 35 t 2-axle crane with our 60 t capacity, 3-axle GMK, which more closely aligns with the trends and preferences in today’s rental market. In particular, this ensures new entrants into the industry will benefit from getting practical experience in a crane that’s closer to what they’ll eventually encounter in the real world. The crane is also fully compliant with the latest requirements, whether that’s Stage V engine emission standards or the latest EN13000 regulations. And, by incorporating our intuitive Crane Control System (CCS), it becomes much easier to understand and work with too.”

With the arrival of this Grove GMK3060 and recently with the purchase of a Jekko 1200 series mini crane (which can also be admired in the striking orange colour), we are constantly developing according to the needs of the market. A cherished wish to have a pedestal crane on our property came true a few years ago. In this way we can provide our customers in the Offshore and Maritime industry with a sufficient range of training courses with - and under - the crane.

With the presence of various cranes (telescope, tower cranes, foundation machine, truck loading cranes, earth-moving machines, etc.), we can provide every (future) operator with a good basic training. But also under the crane when the loads are attached, you can receive sufficient training for construction or petrochemicals at our unique training location in Harderwijk, closely to the highway A28.
