SLIM Training Subsidy

The government encourages learning and development in SMEs with the SLIM subsidy. This allows you to receive reimbursement for up to 80% of training costs. Only OCW-recognized programs and industry-recognized programs with an NLQF level are eligible. For SOMA, this means, among other things:

  • Infrastructure Executive
  • (First) Gas, Water and/or Heat Distribution Engineer
  • (First) Low Voltage Technician

SpUk-SEB Specific Allowance for Clean and Emission-Free Construction

Do you, as a municipality, province, or water board, want to encourage zero-emission construction in your projects? With the SPUK-SEB scheme (Specific Grant for Clean and Zero-Emission Construction), you can receive reimbursement for part of the additional costs associated with using zero-emission construction machinery and vessels. This subsidy makes it financially feasible to impose stricter requirements on zero-emission construction in tenders.

A budget of €2025 million is available for SPUK-SEB in 71. You can submit your application to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. rvo.nl, until September 12, 2025 at the latest. It is expected that new rounds to apply for this subsidy will be held annually until 2029.

Construction & Infrastructure inflow and retention of skilled workers

In the coming years, the Construction & Infrastructure sector will need many people. New employees can be recruited through lateral entry. If training is required for this, you can apply for a contribution towards training costs from the Construction & Infrastructure Inflow and Retention of Skilled Workers department. This is a initiative of the collective labor agreement parties in the construction sector, consisting of Bouwend Nederland, Aannemersfederatie Nederland, WoningBouwersNL, Association of Hydraulic Engineering Contractors, FNV Bouwen en Wonen and CNV Vakmensen.

Subsidy scheme for practical training in the third learning path

Are you, or have you, at your company helped a job seeker or employee at risk of unemployment with additional training or retraining? Then you may receive a contribution towards the costs of mentoring. This subsidy applies to programs where the student completes a work placement (BAP). You can receive up to €2700 per participant. The amount depends partly on the number of weeks the participant received mentoring. After completing the mentoring, you can apply for the subsidy. You can do this for multiple participants you mentored.

You must submit your grant application to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), an executive agency of various ministries. There are several application rounds, one each year in December and June. The exact dates can be found on the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) website. To submit the application, you will need, among other things, e-recognition.

Belastingdienst

The costs of your education up to and including 2021 are deductible from your income tax return if the education is related to your (future) profession. This significantly reduces your net tuition costs! As of January 1, 1, tuition fees are no longer deductible. Read more about deductions and discounts on the Tax Authorities' website.

Besides the benefits of the knowledge gained, employers also benefit from an attractive tax incentive. Training costs are fully tax-deductible for employers (under certain conditions). Costs for study and training fall under the targeted exemptions of the Work-Related Costs Scheme (WKR). For employers, training costs are 100% deductible. These are good reasons to invest in employee development.

SOOB

The Professional Freight Transport Training and Development Fund (SOOB) provides subsidies to encourage training and courses in the industry. SOMA Bedrijfsopleidingen is a certified training provider, and the following courses are eligible for a subsidy:

Forklift Safety Certificate 

It's important to submit your application to SOOB before the course or program begins. Each training category has a subsidy ceiling. Once this ceiling is reached, no further subsidies will be awarded. Therefore, apply for the subsidy as soon as possible. OOMT

OOMT is the training and development fund for the motor vehicle and two-wheeler industry. Employers affiliated with OOMT and paying premiums may be eligible for a subsidy. Participants will receive an application form upon assessment; if they pass the assessment, the subsidy application process begins automatically. Click here for more information about this scheme.

Water Engineering Subsidy for Sustainable Employability

Until November 24, 2024, employees in the Collective Labor Agreement for the Water Construction Industry can apply for a maximum of €1000 from the Water Construction Training and Development Fund (O&O-fonds Waterbouw). This is part of the sustainable employability campaign. Information about the course, training, and/or education, as well as the conditions for receiving the subsidy, can be found on the website. www.gezondwerkenindewaterbouw.nl.

Collective Labor Agreement Construction & Infrastructure - promoting training

Companies covered by the Construction & Infrastructure Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) have the option to take advantage of the training subsidy program. Employees can receive a €2500 gross diploma bonus upon completion of a BBL 2, BBL 3, or BBL 4 training program. This bonus is funded from equity held by the Construction & Infrastructure Training and Development Fund. This fund encourages training.

Individual budget

To ensure healthy and motivated employees, every employee in construction and infrastructure has an individual budget. This individual budget can be used later in life, for example, for additional leave days or additional training. Training is important because the days when someone could continue doing the same job for years after completing vocational training are over.

Additional focus on practical training in secondary vocational education SZW

This subsidy is intended for: employees and job seekers who can obtain a practical statement, certificate, or diploma in the third learning path by combining work in a training company with following part of a vocational education (MBO) program.

Only possible for OCW-accredited courses.

KVVTV capitalizes on opportunities for technical expertise

This subsidy applies to the three northern provinces of Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe and is intended for training current staff, training new staff, and mentoring new staff. More information can be found on the website of spt-north.

Regulation on regional mobility teams SZW

This subsidy is intended for, among other things, the use of (re)training and the use of instruments for the benefit of job (unemployment)-to-job mediation.

UWV training services purchasing framework

This subsidy option is intended for people for whom the UWV has a reintegration responsibility, such as those receiving unemployment benefits (WW), Wajong (Disability Insurance Act), and AG (General Benefits Act) benefits. All these individuals have the opportunity to learn a (completely) new profession/job through training. The intended career/job and/or job is fixed.
