First Low Voltage Distribution Engineer

As a Senior Low-Voltage Technician, you'll work with colleagues on electricity distribution networks. You'll resolve malfunctions and provide instructions to other technicians. You'll manage not only the technicians in your own team, but also third parties involved in project execution.
 
Safety is paramount when working with electricity. During the training, you'll learn about the risks involved and be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations regarding occupational health and safety and the environment. You'll perform your work in accordance with these regulations, and your role also includes reminding others of their responsibilities regarding these laws and regulations. You're responsible for the quality of your own work and that of your colleagues. You'll be accountable to the project manager or your supervisor.

This training takes approximately one year, depending on your level and pace. It is based on the "First Low-Voltage Technician" qualification file with Crebo 27011. The training is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), in accordance with the guidelines of the CKB and/or Bei/BLS. You will complete this training alongside your work at an accredited training company. If you require additional practical training, these can be arranged in consultation with you at an accredited practical workshop.

What will you learn during the training?

The course consists of 24 theory lessons. You can also work through the digital course material at your own pace and level. The digital course material is provided by the Blei Foundation and includes:
 
Base: 

  • Customer friendliness and conflict management
  • Communication and etiquette
  • From Source to Customer
  • Preparation and setting up of work location
  • Civil works
  • Safety awareness
  • Laying LS Cables
  • Energy transition

Vocational training:  

  • Mounting connections
  • Installation of low-voltage distribution networks
  • Distribution network commissioning and decommissioning
  • Locating and analyzing faults
  • large consumers
  • Organizing work to be carried out

And 3 additional modules in the field of low voltage. For example: 

  • Floor 1 Smart meters
  • Floor 2 Lighting installations in rooms
  • Floor 3 Public lighting installations

Generic subjects
Dutch, Math, and Career & Citizenship are compulsory components of the program. If you have already completed these at level 2 or higher, you can be exempted from Dutch, Math, and two electives. This results in a reduction of €725 excluding VAT on the total amount. Please indicate this when you apply.  

Practice
The majority of the training consists of theoretical lessons, but participants are also expected to complete regular practical training (BPV: Professional Practice Training). To assess your proficiency in your field and meet the required qualifications, a Proficiency Test (PVB) will be administered at the end of the training. Specific cables are required for this PVB, which participants must provide themselves. If desired, we can supply the necessary cables for an additional fee. Portfolios
Throughout the program, you'll document your progress in a portfolio. This forms an important foundation for obtaining your final diploma.

What do you get afterwards?

In addition to your portfolio, you will take several theory tests and practical exams. You will receive your MBO level 3 diploma once you have passed all exams.

  • For this course, you'll need a laptop with internet access, Word, and Adobe Reader. For the exam, you'll need specific materials, such as a cable. You'll need to provide these yourself.
