TCVT Operator Small Foundation Machine W4-02

This training is for operators of a machine (installation) used to install or remove foundation elements or soil load-bearing improvements (walls and/or barriers) by drilling, hammering, vibrating, digging, pulling, pressing, or otherwise. They must comply with the statutory (TCVT) standard. This standard requires possession of a TCVT registration for Small Foundation Machines W4-02.

A small machine is a machine/installation with a net weight (including equipment and foundation element) of 30 tons or less, a height of up to 10 meters, or that handles a foundation element up to 10 meters. During the training, we work towards the theoretical and practical exams, in accordance with the final and test criteria of this TCVT certification scheme. Depending on the participant's knowledge and experience, we offer a 6- or 10-day training course. The final day (6th or 10th day) consists of exams administered by an external examination agency.

6-day training course: Good reading skills required to prepare for home study. Good hand-eye coordination required for operating a system. A high level of knowledge of the content, including foundation worker experience and practical experience with a foundation system.

10-day training: Standard reading skills for a self-study section. Familiarity with foundation work at a basic level.

What will you learn during this course?

The course combines theory and practice. You will learn about:

  • dismantle small foundation machine, prepare for transport, load, unload and assemble
  • making preparations before working with a small foundation machine
  • carrying out work with a small foundation machine
  • perform daily maintenance on a small foundation machine
  • Recognize malfunctions in a small foundation machine and take appropriate action
  • apply safety precautions when working with and on a small foundation machine
  • After work, leave the small foundation machine in accordance with company instructions.
  • environmentally responsible work with and on a small foundation machine.

The course was developed in collaboration with the Dutch Association of Foundation Contractors (NVAF).

What do you get afterwards?

We conclude the course with a theoretical and practical exam (by an independent agency). Upon successful completion of both exams, you will receive the TCVT certificate "Small Foundation Machine Operator W4-02." This certificate (plus the XS-ID app) is issued by TCVT-RA. The cost of this certificate, €195 (excluding VAT), is paid by the participant in TCVT-RA. Neither SOMA Bedrijfsopleidingen nor the independent examination agency are involved in this matter.   • This training is scheduled upon request. Please contact us for more information. by email. If there are enough participants, the course will take place at the Bouw & Infra Park in Harderwijk. Due to the practical component of this course, the groups are small and therefore fill up quickly.
  • Employees who work on a machine (installation) with its own mass including equipment and foundation element of 30 tons or more, a height of 10 meters or more or that processes a foundation element of 10 meters or longer, must obtain a registration of the "large foundation machines W4-03"
  • A future participant may have a assessment (entry test) A test is administered to assess the participant's current level of knowledge and skills in relation to the final and test objectives, and to recommend a training duration or other options. The cost per participant per half-day test is €375 (excluding VAT). A short report with our findings will be provided after the test.
  • A VCA diploma is useful, but not a requirement.
